Usually I cannot stand that question, yet it seemed to be the theme of Monday's episode of 7th Heaven on the WB station, which by the way, I heard is merging with UPN. The picture on the left is of the current main cast of 7th Heaven.
Now back to Monday's episode...
The twins asked "What color are we?" The mother replied, "you are white." The boys looked at each other and decided they were going to find out what color they were. They went to their crayon box and pulled out a white crayon and put it up to their face. The colors did not match. The voiced this observation, to which they were told, being white didn't mean you were exactly "white". So the boys kept up the quest. While in church, to the embarrassment of their mother, the boys asked one of the elderly women of the church what color she was. She wonderfully smiled and told the mother that it was alright. Then she answered the boys with the best answer to that question I have ever heard...
"I am red when I am angry, blue when I am sad, green when I am jealous, and as I am getting older, I have some gray." The boys seemed very happy with that answer as was I. I am so tired of some people trying to turn this world into a "black" & "white" divisive world instead of one where we realize that we are not "white" or "black" but all wonderfully adaptive Homo sapiens. Some developed pigment to shield from the sun. Some have coarse straight hair to protect from the cold. Some have very curly hair to release heat away from the head.
There was a boy who was raised by antelope. When found, he had very thick ankles so he could run with the antelope. We adapt. It is one of our best, in my opinion, survival mechanisms. Differences in humans should be met with acceptance and love instead of suspicion and fear.
Just my opinion of course.
Talking about suspicion and fear, why are people allowing our president to use suspicion and fear to destroy our country? It was George Washington who said, "If we sacrifice Liberty for Security, we shall have neither." He also stated, "Over grown military establishments are under any form of government inauspicious to liberty, and are to be regarded as particularly hostile to republican liberty." and "Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness." So why is it that our president seems to follow Presidents like Nixon, who resigned before he was kicked out of office, instead of our 1st president and one of our founding fathers?
The election is in November. We need to win back liberty for our country and let the world know we are not paranoid cowards. It is time we increased our education and health care instead of giving most of our taxes to Halliburton knowing Vice President Cheney has a direct link and vested interest with them.
President Bush needs to be put on trial for his crimes against the American People. At the very least, investigated. None of this will happen as long as politics remains like it is.
The Republicans boasted that with a Republican as President and a Republican Senate, that we can hold them accountable. So it is time we started holding them accountable.
We have lived here about 2 years now, and I still have not found a church to attend. To be honest, I am upset that there are Christian churches which are suppose to be non-political to retain tax-exempt status has publicly supported President Bush, which is very political. Yet they retain their tax-exempt status. This bothers me, and for this reason, I refuse to join any church.
